VirtualBox

virtualbox_osx_beta_255cVirtualization. Sounds TECHIE, right? Well, virtualization is a broad term that refers to the abstraction of computer resources. In computing, platform virtualization is a virtualization of computers or operating systems. It hides the physical characteristics of computing platform from the users instead showing another abstract, emulated computing platform.

Virtual box is one of the “virtualization” product. When we describe VirtualBox as a “virtualization” product, we refer to “full virtualization”, that is, the particular kind of virtualization that allows an unmodified operating system with all of its installed software to run in a special environment, on top of your existing operating system. This environment, called a “virtual machine”, is created by the virtualization software by intercepting access to certain hardware components and certain features. The physical computer is then usually called the “host”, while the virtual machine is often called a “guest”. Most of the guest code runs unmodified, directly on the host computer, and the guest operating system “thinks” it’s running on real machine. It is not only an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, Macintosh and OpenSolaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4 and 2.6), Solaris and OpenSolaris, and OpenBSD. It means that you can run multiple Operating Systems simultaneously without rebooting your system, well it depends on the capability of your system.

It is distributed by the Sun Microsystems, Inc. For more info on VirtualBox, visit www.virtualbox.org.

PhilNITS: FE Fundamental IT Engineers Exam

April 7, 2009 - 3:11 pm | Posted by jboy | Personal

PhilNITS stands for Philippine National IT Standards Foundation.

The Fundamental IT Engineers Exam (FE) is one of the 14 exams given by the Japan IT Engineers Examination Center (JITEC) of the Information technology Promotions Agency (IPA) of the Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI) of Japan. These exams are based on an established Information Technology Engineers Skill Standards (ITSS).

The FE Exam is used to evaluate the knowledge and skills of an IT personnel (engineer) on the fundamentals of I.T.

The Fundamental IT Engineers Exam (FE) requires the person to have the ability to develop a good program by making full use of techniques related to basic-level algorithm and data structure. The FE Exams also requires the person to be able to successfully carry out jobs such as program development, unit tests, and system integration tests.

Those who fail either the morning or afternoon part of the exam are given 1 year to take the removal exam after which they will have to take the entire test again. This means 2 chances to pass the exam.

The 13th PhilNITS(JITSE) examination schedule will be on April 26, 2009 (FE Fundamental IT Engineers Exam and SW Software Engineers Exam).

I took this examination last October 19, 2008 together with my classmates but unfortunately, we did not pass maybe because we were not prepared. Early this year, me and my classmate got a memo from JITEC that we were given another chance to take the exam. I admit that I am not really prepared for this because this exam needs much preparations and I am not ready yet. But because we were sponsored by the sponsors of PhilNITS, I will grab this opportunity. Who knows? -lol-

Kalyla’a Beach

April 1, 2009 - 4:06 pm | Posted by jboy | Places

kaylaa
Kayla’a Beach Resort is another one of the beautiful resorts in Bohol. It is located in the heart of Dimiao, Bohol. It is a thirty-minute ride from Tagbilaran City while enjoying the local scenery of vast rice fields, native carabaos, fogged mountains and the glittering splashes of the beaches. They will have their soft opening this coming April 15, 2009. There will be 10% discount on all Filipino citizen guests.

http://kaylaabeachresortbohol.com – this is the first website that we made together with Macky and Tej . I helped Macky in converting his layout into HTML codes while Tej was incharge for the content and SEO. I was having a hard time in doing this because I was new to this. I asked help from Macky and Mr. Google to be able to do it on time. By now, I continue my OJT at Auza.net and practicing Web Development .
